Traveling with Children
In their attempts to curb corruption and human trafficking, the stand out the department of home affairs has enforced new regulations for all children under the age of 18 that will be traveling internationally. This law requires all children to be in possession of a valid unabridged birth certificate valid passport.
What is an unabridged Birth Certificate?
All children born after 2002 would have automatically been issued with such a certificate at birth. The certificate must and will have the details of both birth parents on the document.
Children traveling with both parents.
Need only a valid passport and unabridged birth certificate
Children traveling with one parent.
Require a valid passport and unabridged birth certificate. Customs officials will also require an affidavit signed by a commissioner of oaths from the absent parent giving consent for the child to travel internationally. Should one of the parents be deceased a certificate of death will also be needed.
Children traveling alone or with adults other than their parents.
Require a valid passport and unabridged birth certificate. Customs will also require an affidavit from, both ascent parents giving permission for travel.
